FREE Military Symbology Database

Generate dynamic symbols that comply with military and homeland security standards with TransVoyant’s FREE military symbol database, GeoEmblem. GeoEmblem is a symbol rendering web application that is capable of dynamically generating point-based Military Standard 2525B/2525C and Homeland Security icons. It is lightweight, simple to deploy and easy to use—helping military C4ISR systems to display real-time common symbology information in a clear and instantly recognizable way.

  • Mission-Critical Symbology

GeoEmblem-generated symbols can be used to relay mission-critical information and provide a common operational picture to all levels—from planners to warfighters—for theatre visualization, situational awareness and force tracking.

  • Real-Time Tracking

Utilize GeoEmblem to conduct forensic and real-time tracking and analysis of object interactions using military and homeland security symbology. Symbols are drawn dynamically as requested—allowing for flexible symbol sizing and implementation.

General Symbols. Visualize Information.

GeoEmblem can enhance mission outcomes by enabling faster and better-informed decisions through the addition of military and DHS symbology to mapping and visualization tools.

  • Maps can rapidly relay information about where objects are located and how objects interact. Dynamically changing the symbols generated through the GeoEmblem symbol database adds a powerful dimension for displaying situational awareness of critical events—enabling analysts, operators and warfighters to quickly identify important objects such as aircraft, ships and troops. A critical part of any Military C4ISR system is its ability to display real-time information in a clear and unambiguous way. To support this need, the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency created Military-Standard-2525 to ensure that all branches of the military—as well as related agencies and private sector activities—would share a common symbology.

  • Symbols dynamically generated by GeoEmblem can be used to relay mission-critical information such as:

    1. Is an object moving?
    2. In which direction is the object moving?
    3. What is the readiness status of the object?
    4. Is the object one or many?
    5. Is the object a person, car or plane?
    6. Does the object reflect a threat to deployed troops?

Technical Highlights

  • GeoEmblem can enhance mission outcomes by enabling faster and better-informed decisions through the addition of military standard and homeland security symbology to data visualization tools. Symbols are drawn dynamically as requested, allowing for dynamic symbol sizing (versus static, predefined images from a disk-based library). The platform-agnostic web service can integrate with any platform that has the ability to invoke HTTP calls, such as Google Earth. GeoEmblem runs on any machine with a Java application server (e.g. Apache Tomcat) running Java 5 or greater—allowing for easy system implementation.
