Award
The purpose of the awards is “to recognize, honor and publicize the accomplishments of the PMI-NAC 2011 Project Excellence Awardee, along with their project team, for superior performance in project management.”
Project Scope
TransVoyant architected, developed, deployed, and continues to maintain and support the Visual Planner System (VPS) web-based system component of the Depot Total Asset Visibility System (DTAVS) for Anniston Army Depot (ANAD). In partnership with ANAD’s Directorate of Information Management (DOIM) organization, the TransVoyant team has provided maintenance and sustainment support for VPS since October 2006. VPS is the material management solution that is used to track and report the status of ground combat vehicle components, sub-components and parts as they undergo the reset (remanufacturing) process in ANAD’s Industrial Complex. Per ANAD, DTAVS has effectively reduced the depot’s spare parts inventory in half, while reducing re-manufacturing bottlenecks, expediting repair cycles, and saving the U.S. government and taxpayers millions of dollars.
Early in 2010, Anniston Army Depot began its implementation of SAP software under the US Army’s Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) initiative. The business process changes required for LMP resulted in a need for TransVoyant to significantly modify VPS within a short six months period of time. Within the first 6 months following the initial LMP deployment, TransVoyant also developed and deployed 6 additional minor VPS Lite software releases to support major ANAD business process changes. These software updates addressed major business process requirements.
Project Results
Despite many challenges presented throughout the LMP implementation, TransVoyant completed the VPS Lite application on schedule and within budget. The successful delivery of the VPS Lite application ensured a smooth interaction with LMP and successful adoption of VPS Lite within the production community. In essence, VPS Lite was a contributing success factor for the overall implementation of LMP. Additionally, the client consistently ranks TransVoyant’s quality of products/services, its ability to meet schedule and contain costs, and provision of business relations as exceptional.
